Meet the Watts

While in the Midwest, I had the wonderful privilege of photographing Janie and Robert Watts, their oldest son Ryan and his wife Jessica, their two daughters, Emily and Lauren, and the newest addition to their family, their first grandson, baby Aiden. We had a wonderful time taking pictures at their beautiful home, the town square, and at their favorite hangout, the high school track. Many weekends are spent cheering on their favorite team, the Nevada Tigers.

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot:

Baby Aiden couldn't have expressed it better. At the end of the shoot, we were all tuckered out:)

Ashley and Jason

Couples are one of my favorite things to photograph. I love capturing the joy that emanates from two people in love. I love it even more when love finds my friends. When I found out Ashley got engaged, I couldn't wait to meet the lucky guy. I have known Ashley since the third grade and I didn't think it was ever possible for her to be any happier. She has always been a woman of God, a woman of the Word, and a woman of joy. But when I saw her with Jason, this verse immediately came to mind.

"Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy."

This verse in Isaiah perfectly describes the fullness of joy. A joy that cannot be contained. I am so happy for Ashley and Jason. They will become one November 24th, 2007.

Autumn & Kevin

What brought me to Kansas just a few weeks ago is the love shared between this awesome couple, Autumn and Kevin. Kevin works for the railroad and Autumn is a kindergarten teacher at Bryan Elementary. Apart they are each successful, but together they are successfully complete. Autumn and Kevin are tying the knot next spring on May 31, 2008.

The Barnett Family

As the aircraft began to make its final descent into Kansas City, I opened my shade to discover a big, black cloud hovering over the city. Waterdrops decorated my window and flashes of lightning lit up the sky. Coming from Portland, the last thing I was expecting to find in the Midwest was rain. Although, I normally love the sound of thunder, I do not like the weather to interfere with my schedule!

Anticipating a cancellation, to my surprise my clients still wanted to continue as planned. I guess I should have taken into account the fact that they too are photographers and this is just another opportunity to be creative. As a photographer, normally the first thing we look for is good light. Not today! I was looking to keep dry:) Fortunately, we found some commercial loading docks with covered awnings. As time passed, so did the weather and we were able to conclude with some amazing light. We didn't manage to keep dry, however, we did manage to have a great time!

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot:

When asked to photograph the Barnett's, I knew I was in for an adventure. Sarah and I have been friends for almost twenty years and I interned with Chris several years ago at Rennett Studio. It was an honor and a privilege. Thank you Chris, Sarah, Finnegan & Charlee! Maybe next time I will pack an umbrella:)
